4.0 out of 5 stars The North Face Jester Review, September 25, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
Very well put together back pack. The worksmanship is very good and the materials look good for a couple of years at least. the shoulder straps are omfortable, but the back is very stiff- almost like its made of hardboard or a thin sheet of ply.
My son, 12, uses it, and its good for him... one main compartment for school books and the front compartment for supplies, side pockets fow water-bottles... and he is done. This one is not going hiking or to the park... the back is too stiff. No laptop compartment but it would take a 15" piece easy.... The only thing tht annoyed me was the picures and descriptions/reviews made it seem a whole lot bigger... and its not.

5.0 out of 5 stars one of the most popular northface bags defined for versatility, March 20, 2008
Northface always stands out from the rest of the bag manufacturers because of its ergonomics and depth of its design. Jester may have the aesthetics but also features a bungee system which can be used to hold your jacket when not in use. The smaller compartment has various pocket sizes for things like writing utensils, cellphones, etc. The main compartment looks compact but it can fit more stuff than what you think. The mesh bottle holders come in very handy if you are a green freak. I have a Bodum coffee mug and a Nalgene watter bottle on each side end. The best thing about this bag would be the padding at the back. It really helps you not feel that thing on your back, whether you load is light or heavy. It has a hip belt which they claim it can be removed but I havent yet found a way to doing that other than cutting it off. I would have liked that to be removed, but it is important to keep in mind that this could also be used for hiking. The slit of grey at the front is a reflective... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Serious Jester?, May 6, 2008

I use this bag on the front rack of my 4 wheeler and it works perfect. As the other review states you can fit more than you would think in this thing. The hip belt was part of the reason I bought this because it ties to the rack really nice. I don't know what it feels like to wear cause I have not and probably will not wear it. Its a rugged bag and is going to take a brutal beating. I got mine for 30 bucks so I cannot complain. It holds trail maps, a GPS, pens and markers, first aid crap, a large flashlight, a rain jacket, matches and lighters, knives and other junk you want near when you break down in the middle of nowhere. Sure I could use the actual ATV bags but they are so huge and this thing is just small and works perfect.
